Dear AP Calculus student! AP Calculus AB has been the most instructive of all my classes during my entire senior year. Although it's challenging, I feel well-prepared for the AP test and am optimistic about scoring decently. If my score isn’t high enough to earn college credit, I’ll simply take Calculus 1 in college, where I’m extremely well-prepared. On the first day of school, you may walk into this class and, much to your dismay, find a seating chart displayed on the screen. While you may not like it at first, you’ll soon realize that this arrangement is beneficial. It encourages you to make new friends—friends you might not have made if not for the seating chart. Having friends in class is very helpful; you can collaborate on homework and help each …show more content…
You'll spend about two hours on homework that day, compared to four hours a week later. Additionally, during lectures, especially when Mrs. Friedrich introduces a new topic, it's crucial to write down a step-by-step process for solving the problems. Simply jotting down the example problem and its solution won't be as helpful when you look through your notes next class. Also, pay close attention when doing the test reviews, as they closely mirror the actual test and are great for preparation. Furthermore, make sure to utilize your calculator when instructed. Calculators can perform more functions than you might expect, such as using the numeric solver to set equations equal to each other, or finding values for any relevant point on a graph in the graph menu. You don't have to do this, but I recommend purchasing plenty of 8.5x11 graph paper with small squares and hole punches. This will be used for taking notes, doing homework, and reviews, as you'll need to draw graphs for many of the questions in this class. Using graph paper helps you write smaller and fit more on each page. Reflecting on my papers from Pre-Calculus last year, I noticed how much my handwriting has improved; Calculus has
