In the pharmacy field there are a lot of different duties that you are responsible for. In completing the virtual scenarios for pharmacy technicians I learned a lot of different scenarios and responsibilities. I’m hoping to be able to, one day, bring this knowledge to a place of employment and learn to grow with the knowledge that I have already learned. In this paper I will be discussing the things I have learned that I believe will help me within this position. Inventory management is very important in the pharmacy field. Making sure that all prescriptions are valid is extremely important. You do this by making sure that the DEA verification code is correct. Always make sure that you put narcotics in the safe, never leave them on the counter if you’re not near them. It is important to make sure that you follow the FDA safety information. In the pharmacy field it is important to never guess, always make sure that everything you do is completely correct. Everything needs to match up. Never use a mislabeled bottle; this could cause serious issues for the customer. Never hesitate to tell the pharmacist if you see employees making mistakes or not following the rules. It is the pharmacist job to deal with employee errors. Always be alert, if you cannot make out something on a prescription it is important for you to contact the prescriber to make sure that you have the information correct, better to be safe than sorry. Technicians are not authorized to give a consult that is for the pharmacist to complete. It is very important that the pharmacist always sees the prescription before it leaves the store.
