In the eyes of a future educator, I catch a glimpse of the influential impact I have to inspire many students to reach their full potentials. I can strive to meet the needs of students, expand creativity and create a safe environment for students to learn. With strong communication skills and a driven personality coupled with compassion and patience, classroom performance and individual importance will be greatly emphasized.

The educational philosophy I agree most with is progressivism. Progressivism is a student-centered education that focuses on a curriculum of interest to students. This type of educational system lets the child be in charge of their own education with a certain set of guidelines. The teacher acts as an encourager rather than just spouting out information. It's also very interesting and stimulating. The curriculum is obtained through interaction constructed from what is seen, heard, and done. This educational system allows students to learn with all of their senses rather than just listening to a teacher lecture. John Dewey (1859-1952) was very significant in progressivism. Dewey supported a balance between valuing established content with structured learning activities. Dewey also believed that democracy should be practiced in school life and not just in the government. Children need to be able to question and investigate their surroundings. …show more content…

In the classroom, I want to emphasize the importance every student’s needs. By having a student-centered environment, I can interact with each individual by activities, discussions, and evaluate each student. I strongly believe that every student should be important and know that their presence is valued. I also desire to differentiate each lesson suitable to all types of multiple intelligences. I believe that all children can learn at high levels with the balance of different types of
