Physical education, exercise science, and sports professionals all play a significant role in getting students, clients, and players to meet the goals and objectives of Healthy People 2020 and The Surgeon General’s Vision for a Healthy and Fit Nation. Having a healthy lifestyle starts at an early phase in life. According to the text, “Adolescence is an important age for developing health habits that will persist into adulthood (79).” With that said, in order for them to have that healthy lifestyle they must become educated about the risks of inactivity as early as possible. Dear Editor, I am Writing to express my opinion on the issue of having physical education grades affect your total grade point average. Some may argue that children will take gym classes more seriously now that they know that their grade in that class will affect their overall grade. But if those students did not try before then they must not be students that will change their mind over a grade. People may also say that some children perform better in physical activities then in academics, but academics are always more important than sports. Even if you are a professional football player you are going to need some form of education to get into a good college or have a good job.
In today 's world schools spend too much money on after school sports and might get rid of them. Although many students think getting rid of after school sport is not necessary; schools save much more money now and a more percentage of students pass their classes because the schools use the money for educational purposes. Therefore, districts should get rid of after school sports because they are too expensive, students grades are dropping, and kids are not paying enough attention in class.

High school students also may choose from a wide variety of elective courses, such as music, foreign languages, or industrial arts”(Buethe). Academic students, who already work hard to get good grades in other required courses, do not need physical education to be another class that they need to worry about. Not requiring P.E. every year allows students to get other required, academic classes completed. With two-thirds of America being overweight or obese, lots of people may have concerns that not enough physical exercise can lead to more teens being overweight(Moore). Although that can be a reasonable concern, teens should be able to make those choices and get the necessary physical activity on their own(“Should Teens be Able”).
Physical education classes do not provide as much of a benefit as recess. In 2001, the Council on Physical Education for Children expressed the idea of replacing recess with physical education. Although physical education gives an outlet to let out anger, like any other academic classes, it imposes serious demand on children. Therefore, a physical education class is not much of a
One of the key to the successful teaching of physical education is the use of a broad range of approaches and methodologies. As it is acknowledged that schools, classes and teachers will vary, some methods will suit particular circumstances better than others, and the nature of the strands themselves necessitates the use of a variety of teaching methods. It has been a topic, often discussed about amongst students and school all across America. “ Should P.E be mandatory?” students and teachers often debate on whether to make physical education mandatory. The term inclusion is often seen as simply referring to learners with special needs, where it is interpreted as the ‘complete acceptance of a student with a disability in a regular classroom.’ However the notion can be viewed much more broadly. A common misconception about inclusion is that it is solely about including people with disability in regular sport activities without any modification. (Australian sports commission) However being inclusive is about providing a range of options to cater for people of all ages, abilities and backgrounds, in the most appropriate manner possible.
