Outline a proposal that could be brought to the school board to support your case. Sports are vital for student-athletes for not only on the field, but off it as well. Its helps develop bonds and relationships with teammates that you can’t get anywhere else. Being able to compete at the highest level is something not many can say, and having an athletic trainer develop our athletes into high level competitors will only help us and them in their next
Like I said before, every committed athlete is to wake up hours before their classes, lift or condition, then must attend class for 7-8 hours before again going to practice, which after attending an athletic study session (film), then finally get home and finish homework or prepare for an upcoming
In the article "Gym Class Is So Bad, Kids Are Skipping School to Avoid It" Wong stated “Students are more likely to be bullied in middle school than at any other point in their academic careers, and P.E. presents a particularly ripe opportunity for abuse”. This shows that students skip P.E to skip getting bullied or made fun of. It also explains “non athletic” kids may become embarrassed by their body and not want to go swimming without a shirt or even just eat around other people. Another thing Wong said was “After all, in this “old school” version of P.E., certain kids are bound to struggle.” That quote explains he believes many students may struggle and not try to challenge themselves anymore because they think they “can't” do it.
This notion is supported by Dr. Daniel Gould, who believes that “Children who participate in sports have increased educational aspirations, closer ties to school and increased occupational aspirations in youth” (1). People against the funding of high school sports think that parents and society are placing more emphasis than ever before and, “[P]ressures athletic personnel to deviate on winning from the athlete- centered educational and personal development mission” (Gould 1). However, athletes strive to do better in class. Michael Lorenc, a high school basketball coach believes that “those who seem to have an overwhelming schedule where they’re playing maybe multiple sports, and high academic schedules, they tend to do better than those who don’t do anything extracurricularly” (Gray). Balancing sports and school makes athletes put more effort into keeping up grades while playing the sport they love.
Dr. Frank L. Smoll states, “All children and youth need vigorous physical activity as part of their daily lives, and sports provide the benefits of exercise and the potential for acquiring a sense of accomplishment.” (Smoll 1/2).
The stress can get so intense, it feels paralyzing. That’s why it is important than ever for schools to invest in their athletic programs,” states the sports article “Should Schools get rid of Sports.” Schools should keep their sports programs because they help improve academics, help improve mental and emotional health, and improves social skills like being on a team. Schools should not get rid of their sports programs because they help with student’s academics.
On a day-to-day basis student athletes are required to maintain a healthy balance between their respective sport and their schoolwork, which is difficult. A typical student-athlete schedule includes waking up early, attending classes, going to practice, lifting,
Why should Reynolds students be required to take a course in Physical Education (PE) to graduate? As we know that the physical education is the one of the courses which cannot lack in the education systems. In my opinion, an absolutely evidence is that physical education is given to school program when we were as children. We cannot deny the benefits that bring to us, such as physical, mental, and social. Students taking physical education course will have a good physical -----------------.
Did you know that depending on the sport, students who play sports in college most likely have less than a 2% chance of becoming professional athletes? At middle schools, high schools and colleges across the country, everyone is arguing over whether or not students with failing grades should be allowed to play sports. In my opinion, a good education is so very important for our country’s youth, especially the athletes. Not a lot of kids are good enough to play in the top college sports programs in the country. But even those who are, still have an astonishingly low chance at making the professional leagues.
A healthy experience that should be added to the physical education program is camping. Camping will allow many individuals to enjoy multiple benefits for their health. Such as the fresh air, socialization, improved moods, less stress, exercise, sunshine, restful nights, and new challenges. Not many students today are fortunate enough to experience new things like camping, because no two trips are alike. By missing out on all these health benefits, it can affect these students later in life.
It has been a topic, often discussed about amongst students and school all across America. “ Should P.E be mandatory?” students and teachers often debate on whether to make physical education mandatory. Although many students claim that P.E is a fun way to exercise, some students think otherwise. A high number of students say that P.E is a waste of time, and is more torture than it is education.
As stated above, my first solution to the problem is to have the young athlete’s (as myself ) go to an athletic study hall during most of the practice and that would reduce the amount time, they have to train therefore balancing
To add on, I think that P.E. shouldn’t be as long of a period as the others. Although exercise time is crucial, the periods should not last about an hour. Especially on block days, when the periods are longer, I feel we should shorten the PE period and just make the other periods longer. Excessive PE time just makes us all very tired, not energetic. Teachers might think that all the running around we do will make us wake up and be more alert, but to be honest, it just makes me more tired than I was, and sweaty.
So now, it should be more required than ever to make sure kids aren’t overweight and they are fit. Although physical education takes time away from other subjects in the classroom, physical education should be required in schools because our generation is becoming overweight and it helps students do better in class. To begin, physical
The physical education curriculum of today’s society attempts to develop a balance between overtly aggressive programs and extreme coddling. While physical education and athleticism are a vital part of the curriculum at a public school, many communities are missing the mark when considering the method of instruction for such programs. Physical education programs should be reformed to include more reasonable levels of skill- based learning, inclusion, and healthy competition. It is important that physical education instructors focus on the essential elements of athletics through skill- based learning strategies. From these strategies, students can understand both physical and mental components that form a good athlete.
