Physical Therapy Goals

After graduating from high school I plan to attend Lamar University in the Fall of 2016 and start working on my degree in physical therapy. I chose physical therapy as my career because it is a path I see myself enjoying and is a good way to give back to others by helping them overcome their disabilities. Many people tend to select a major that is lucrative, regardless if they feel passionately about their choice or not. I personally would rather go to work every day loving what I do, as opposed to dreading every minute of my job. Physical therapy is the most suitable occupation for me because of my own past experiences with injuries and various aspects about the field that can carry me through my career.

Gaining all of the information and training, I hope to move up in the work force. Becoming a more reputable therapist would be vital for me if I anticipate to make an impact in my career. Not only could I help many people, but I would also come across more opportunities, such as meeting surgeons and having them work alongside me with their patients. Also, I could work my way up in the industry enough to open up my own business and co-work with a clinic. With a growing business, many obstacles and challenges will come. If a problem was to ever arise I will do anything possible to use all of my knowledge to make the best decision that will lead to a better outcome. I am aware that mistakes will be made, but I would strive for constant growth and learning from my experiences.
