Poster propaganda played an important role in world war II.
Posters from World War II had a great effect from that time and our time today. World War II propaganda posters were meant to try to make people want to join the army by making them think if they didn't then they would regret it (Keene). If they didn't do this then not a lot of people would join the war just freely. If they use propaganda then they could get someone to join the army easier because they can make them feel ashamed that they aren't helping defeat the people that they are at war against. Nazi propaganda was used to try to convince people that there were the best and everyone else was bad compared to them (“Propaganda and Wars…”). This is something that would be important in the war because both Hitler or the Natzis and other people wanted others to join them to fight against what people they thought were bad. Propaganda posters also tried to make people believe that instead of doing nothing that even at home they can help (“Propaganda and Wars…”). This was important because they wanted everyone to do anything possible to help with the war. For example, they tried to convince women to work at factories or be nurses. They also tried to convince people to work longer shifts at their jobs. Propaganda in the United States was aimed mostly at men in their twenties that are not married so they can join the army and the generals don't need to worry if they die so then they don't have to support the family (Propaganda and Wars…”). They use propaganda to try to convince other people to join because if they didn't then there wouldn't be enough people in the army. A popular one they use was a child asking a dad what they did in the army. If they did nothing in the army, then they couldn't tell them about anything and it would make the dad feel guilty.
