The use of animal testing has being around for a long time. Since the beginning of time scientist, philosophers, and scholars have used animals as way of understanding the anatomy and physiology, pathology, and pharmacology. Surgical procedure was one of the main reason animals testing started, this helped physicians to practice surgical procedures in animals before applying them to humans. There has always been the opposition for using animal for scientific research or testing of any kind. I will go over in this paper about the ethical issues in the controversy of animal research. I will point out some of the pros and cons for using animal research and where most of researchers stand on this issue in comparison to the population.

This is one of the major pro for animals testing once finding new drugs and treatment is essential for curing many disease that kills humans. Although, there are people who are against it they support animal testing when used to improve human health and guarantees the safety of consumption of drugs for humans. The Cons in animals testing like mentioned before is the cruelty in which some animals are treated and the places they are being kept at. Some of them are killed after suffering through the testing or being used. Others are kept in bad shape for the rest of their life in a cage. Other Cons are the price to upkeep the facilities and the animals. Testing may take months or years which incurred charges for long periods of time. Another problem is that when conducting these experiments a reaction of a drug in an animal might not be the same reaction in a human
