Animal testing can be traced as far back as 258 BC. On average, 100 million animals die each year from animal testing. (from dosomething.org and ncbi.nlm.nih.gov) Animals should not be used for testing because it is brutal and traumatic. Animal testing is harmful to the test subject. For instance, the article Should Animals Be Used for Scientific or Commercial Testing states, “The US Department of Agriculture (USDA) reported in 2016 that 71,370 animals suffered pain during experiments while being given no anesthesia for relief, including 1,272 nonhuman primates, 5,771 rabbits, 24,566 guinea pigs, and 33,280 hamsters.” Without any anesthetics for the experiments, the animals could feel every little thing they would do to them. In the future, if they are still testing on animals, they could be able to cure major diseases and be prepared for when someone were to get the disease. In conclusion, though there are many cons for animal testing, one positive thing about it is that it can lead to improvement in
