Many peeple say that being a drum major is eazy. i dont see this too be true. People say its just waving you 're arms around but its reely knot. It takes alot of hard werk and deadication. I think if theese peeple aktuly tryed it, they wood think differently.
This is due to the fact that I wish to be a mentor and educator when all is said and done. I want to help kids, and I want to teach them skills to get them through their lives and be satisfied with them, and to find ways to cope with life’s toughest challenges. I am also passionate about learning the best ways to teach music, theatre, and art, because I have always been the one learning those skills, but never teaching them myself. Also, if I am selected to be either a Recreation Counselor or Outdoor Education Counselor, I am looking forward to learning new skills, and dusting off and developing skills that I may not have touched in a while. I am also looking forward to passing on my experiences not with just the area I am teaching, but with ways to navigate through life, no matter what it may throw at these kids.
I became an educator to make an impact and open up children’s eyes to all possibilities that are out there. Teaching is an incredible profession. Each day is an opportunity to mold minds and stimulate creativity. When students achieve a simple or complex task, I feel it’s’ an experience for me to be a part of their success. I will continue to teach as a career.
I know I could be a Drum Major because of my passion for band and my ability to lead. Ever since I first picked up a trumpet in fifth grade, I realized that I have a passion of music. The joy of not only learning the language, but picking up a horn and playing it was an experience unmatched by anything else. Fast Forward four years to my first band camp, both nerve racking and electrifyingly exciting. While music rehearsal happened and I felt excited for the coming four years, nothing could compare to the first day of marching, taught by Anna, Connor, and Jake.
I decided to sign up and go through the audition process. I ended up getting the position and having the privilege to be the drum major. One of the questions someone asked me was “Why do you want to be drum major?”. I wanted to demonstrate leadership by setting an example for the other kids. I wanted to be an advocate for the band.
I've been in band since middle school, that makes my involvement in band to be 5 years long. Along the way I've learned from directors, upperclassmen, and instructors what it takes to become a better musician or marcher. With several years of band under my belt it makes me qualified to assist with helping other members. I've been involved in programs like RGV LEAD Ambassador and National Honor Society that strengthen my leadership and communication skills, which are key skills needed for being drum major. I am prepared for the responsibilities that come with being a drum major.
In order to be drum major, I had to stop being a child with no rhythm and become the metronome of the band. My hands carried the beat and my face carried the emotion. Knowing when the band needed to play with more passion and how to show them in motion instead of words was one of the most important responsibilities of my position. I cued the entrances for the different sections and had to know where they would be on the field when that happened. Communicating non-verbally was a skill that I developed while being drum
Every member of a marching band is important, but some may argue that the drum majors are the most important people in the band that are a part of the student body. Drum majors are mainly responsible for the togetherness of the band, whether through tempo on the field or street, or the overall togetherness as a band community. Specifically for the senior drum major, it is important that the candidate has the ability to carry out all duties such as instruction and conducting, a prideful and passionate spirit for the band, and past experience of leadership to look back on to continue to lead well. Making music and teaching kids are two passions I have developed, but right now, I know little about the field of music education or the job of a band director. Before I can enter this field, I need to know the requirements for this job. Also, prior to being a band director, I want to know the good, the bad, and the ugly of the job. I know that the relationships built with the students are rewarding and that the time commitment is worth the effort, yet I still have to wonder exactly how they feel about this strenuous job. Becoming A Band Director Stevie Wonder once said, “Music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand, “ and while Stevie Wonder is not the world’s greatest philosopher, he is right.

The philosophers shared the belief in a posteriori knowledge, meaning we gain knowledge through our experience in the world. Hume takes a skeptical approach but is also known as an empiricist, and Locke avoids skepticism to maintain his belief that knowledge means certainty. After college, I would love to become a high school music teacher. Some long term goals are to go back to college after teaching for awhile and get my doctorate in conducting. I also want to get married and have a nice family. My main priority is my education and to get a secure job that I
I would be honored to earn this position, and I promise that I will work just as hard as anyone else this year. While I may have expectations for the rest of the band, everyone has expectations of me as well. You can expect me to be one of the first people to practice every day. I will do my best to get to know each and every one of you, and you can come to me with any questions or concerns you may have. The band is our job, but if I am to be the Drum Major, I am representing the band as a whole.
In addition to looking prepared and acting prepared a drum major must have self respect in regards to the words that they say. Too often in modern society are words thrown like filth at other people around them. At all times a drum major should be cautious of what they say because their words can be a direct reflection on the integrity of the band. Therefore I feel that I would be the perfect candidate for drum major because I am: a leader, a reliable student, and I have high regard for myself and others.
The career I want to pursue is a High school Chorus teacher. Teacher Cadets and Concert Choir here at Rock Hill High confirmed my decision to become a chorus teacher because of the love I have for music and teaching other individuals. The Bureau of Labor Statistics suggests that, high school teachers are significant because they prepare students for life after graduation by teaching lessons and skills they will need in college or the job market. (High School Teachers). Although, teaching is a profession that has good and bad benefits and requires a substantial education, teachers get the opportunity to inspire and help individuals achieve their aspirations.
