Pros And Cons Of Colonizing Mars

One reason we need to colonize mars’ is because of potential disasters. Imagine being on a planet that is progressively getting hotter, and hotter, and hotter- until one day it explodes. Well soon enough you will not have to imagine that absolutely terrifying image because it will soon be our reality. Climate change is an extremely scary but real situation. Quite frankly, we have to be prepared for the worst. We can prevent this tragedy with one simple solution. We need to colonize Mars. Mars will provide the perfect “backup plan” if/when a disaster strikes Earth. Global warming is not the only potential problem Earth has, for instance; natural disasters, illnesses, sea levels rising, and much more pose a large threat to humanity’s well being. Some people may argue that we can just fix the problems we have on our planet, and we will be fine, but they are wrong. Mars is surprisingly very similar to Earth. Though The Red Planet is only one-third of the size of Earth, Mars has more land area than Earth. In addition to being similar to Earth, Mars also has a large supply of elements, that may not be as abundant on Earth. Some of these elements include: platinum, deuterium, and gold. Nonetheless, it would be a lot easier to retrieve elements needed for daily lifestyles much faster and easier. There is also a asteroid belt nearby that could potentially be mined for minerals and other resources, which could also be quite advantageous. Also, according to The Red Colony “ Its gravity is 2.7 times less than that of Earth.” Therefore, many tasks will become easier and will become more efficient as materials will become lighter.
