Public opinion has the ability to shape public policy. Living room politics is the term used for, how the public interest or lack of interest in an issue that influences how the local, state, and federal government’s handles an issue. GMO labeling is a concept that has turned into policy legislation in states such as Colorado, Connecticut, Maine, and Vermont. This issue has turned into potential policy because of three things activists, bottom-up public opinion, and the media. GMOs, which are also known as genetically modified organism that are in many products consumed by Americans. The problem with GMOs is that they cause health problems. A group of grassroots activists has recently tried to get GMO products labeled because it will better inform the public.
