Although the basic functioning non-profit organizations/sectors have been around since the biblical ages, it has only been formally around for the last thirty years as the type of organizations we know and take part of today. Non-profit organizations are the fastest growing organizations in the world and that makes has its own pros and cons. Due to its enormity, it's hard to generalize all non-profits organizations as one, since each of them has different goals and visions of their own company. Connecting to the non-profit idea, all the new information from overseas meant better resources and knowledge to do more. However, people who distrusted the non-profit organizations made it harder for these organizations to function and thus laws were put to constrict them in the south of US. In contrast, the north was a big fan of the private charities and thus encouraged their activities. Thus, different laws approached the states depending on whether or not non-profit organizations were welcome. As time sped on, people’s perspectives and ideas aided them to give nonprofits a chance. Activities in some states became focused on volunteers in jobs such as firefighting. The public even began funding the activities through their own finances if the government didn't give enough. Most cities began warming up to the public and private non-profit companies. During and after the civil war, it was non-profit organizations that took charge of the schooling system, healthcare etc., while the victorious Union handled the building structures that had been
