The senior capstone was the final project for seniors where they’re able to demonstrate and apply all of the their knowledge and skills into their presentations.The capstone was assigned around November of 2015 and Presentations were on April 18, 2016. Within that time span, seniors were instructed to design an automotive dealership and research the essentials to have successful business.
The team consisted of Chris Martinez, Cristian Cabral, Michael Nolie, Kayvaan Adrangi, and Nathan Bondre. The car manufacture that was assigned was Subaru. The Subaru group were instructed to research the licenses and permits required to own a dealership. The calculated total to build the dealership was around 11,000,000. The group split into two teams. One consisted of Cristian Cabral, Kayvaan Adrangi, and Michael Nolie. They were in charge of presenting the whole business plan. They spoke about the prices that the group would have to pay in order to build the dealership. They also introduce the idea of ordering the car online and explained the pros of ordering them online versus in the dealership. They explained the salaries to the customers. On the other team, Chris Martinez and Nathan Bondre were in charge of showing the audience the video of the wheel alignment performed on the car. They also had a little demonstration to show how the wheel alignment is done. The audience was able to have hands on experience. The group informed the audience about the importance of wheel alignments. The audience left knowing the definitions of caster, camber, and toe; which are important terms when it comes to wheel alignments. The audience was also informed how an unaligned car could lead to many problems, such as the car shifting to the left or right, wheel popping, tread damage, etc… . Overall, the capstone was a success for the group. The audience gave good feedback and enjoyed the presentation. They were pleased to be informed about wheel alignments, since most dealerships don’t explain the reasons why cars get unaligned. At first, all of the students were confused because the instructions given were not clear. Most of the class was upset because we were expecting to work on cars. The project was not all that related to automotive. Most of us didn't know how a business worked, so we had to do some research to know our topic. My group was assigned to submit a video, PowerPoint, a binder with the business information, and 3-D model of the dealership. The presentation itself went really well for my group. When the team arranged to present, they brought out the alignment computer with one of the wheel position sensors to show the people who came to see the presentations.
