The Civil War was very complicated and deadly, it caused a lot of damage, but for a greater step that had to be taken, slavery had to end, and so came the Civil War. The North, or the Union, won the war for many reasons, but mainly for their great advantages such as more resources and money provided, basically a more stable economy, their army with more helpers and soldiers than the South and not only having the president’s support but also having the higher ground in many battles. The union already started with the numbers on their side, the North had 7 million more people than the South, meaning more people would enlist in the war. Since the south held slaves which was their largest group of people, cutting them off caused their population to decrease by 4 million, ain't karma nice. Later, thanks to the Emancipation Proclamation, African Americans could enlist in the army, which only further helped the North win, more than 186,000 soldiers joined the fight for freedom and union. The Emancipation Proclamation also brought a new motive for the Civil War, it started off as merely military attempts to, from the Union perspective, reunite the country and for the South to break free, but it turned into a much more complicated fight, it was now a social movement, to define the morals of the country and end slavery, while the confederacy fought against that. Many slaves from the South tried to join the Union army, and those who could escape sure helped them, but some weren’t able and were only punished back at the fields. Not only did more people join the Union, but good fighters that surprised everyone and a few rose to the top. They all fought until the very end, until their last breath, up the hills and put american flags on it, without the help of African American soldiers not only those fighting but also the spies and nurses, the result of the war could’ve ended much more disastrously.
