In my field of study, it is really important
Some of the units are hard to understand, but if you put yourself down over one bad test grade, then the next unit you will be so focused on the bad grade you may do bad again. My best piece of advice and what I did was pay attention to the lectures, take notes on stuff you don't know (especially vocab) and study before test. If you are an overachiever wand want to have an A+ all year, watch reviews on youtube or study. For reading quizzes, just make sure you read. Mrs. Rose will tell you to annotate the book, but it didn't really help me much.
For example, this semester I am taking Honors World History, Chorus 2, and AP Chemistry. Though I struggle in some of these courses, I spend countless nights studying to maintain a 4.1 G.P.A. Science is a very prestigious passion of mine, and I hope to strive in such research. I participate in the Youth Achievers Committee Science Fair every year, and
For me this is important because
In order to maintain good grades I make sure I do all my homework and I take notes in class. When I find myself struggling I find out what steps I can take to help me understand my schoolwork. This year
While these were common struggles I was also finding difficulty in figuring out what I wanted to do. I entered UCI as a Psychology and Social Behavior major and with advices from other people I was pursuing Pre-Med as well and I started taking chemistry and biology classes. However, I was quick to find out that these classes were not for me which was reflected in my grades in those courses. Even though the initial couple of months were difficult, I found what I was passionate about which were the criminology classes that I began to take.
Try to take something each term that is interesting and fun, it helps to enjoy classes instead of hating them. Lynn Jacobs and Jeremy Hyman wrote an
My goal is to get a B in that class and I am very confident I can achieve that. 3. I think I should be able to handle the workload this semester well. It’s pretty much what I was expecting when I decide to attend college. 4.
My first semester I took 4 courses until I realized I was capable of more, so the second semester I added a course plus became a very busy, and I
Service-Learning through the CAP Program I am an Elementary Education major, and I would someday like to become a 4-6th grade teacher. Because of this, I chose to mentor a student for the EDU 223 service-learning project. I became a CAP mentor very late in the semester, but the three-hour training session taught me a lot about the way that students interact with themselves, their peers, and the authority figures in their lives. I have met with my 5th grade CAP student three times now, and I can see some of the topics of this class in the way that she behaves during our sessions.
I’m only taking 5 classes this year, which makes my life a little less stressing. My toughest subject this year was probably Economics. It was something different, a new experience. I was introduced to a whole new level of vocabulary and it was tough to memorize. I also did horrible in the tests, but I was able to push through that
Usually, if I found a certain class had too much difficult work or I did not like how the instructor taught the subject, I would switch into another class. At the beginning of my junior year, I was put into an advanced placement English class. I soon decided to switch out of that class and into an honors English class because I felt the work load was too much and the teacher was too strict on grading. “I regret not staying in AP English because it would have benefitted me and it would have helped me improve my writing skills,” I said to my mom later in the year. She encouraged me to take classes of higher placement in my senior year so I could still have a chance to push myself to my best
