This past semester, I participated in a 112 level English class that reasonably challenged and assessed my abilities, as a writer. Over the course of this year, I have been exposed to a variety of techniques to further improve my writing abilities. Within the semester, the task was placed upon me to outline and draft an argumentative essay, as well as a literary analysis and multi genre research paper. This variety of essay types have enabled me to acquire an understanding of the various ways in which I can argue and prove a point. At the beginning of the school year, I established a goal of improving my overall skill level in being able to effectively convey the message in which the topic of my writing intended. I believe that I have achieved this goal by utilizing the advantageous documents my instructor has provided over the course of the year. Starting with evaluating my expository essay, there is a considerable amount of growth between this and the following argumentative essay. These two essays are the difference between the few months that separated the 111 and 112 courses. The difference between these two essays that leads me to believe that I have significantly improved over the course of the year is my word choice and how easy my essays flow. Between the two papers, I continue to use an academically stimulating vocabulary, though my word choice does appear occasionally odd in some places. This awkward phrasing does not appear as overdone in my latest essays.
