Scheller, a journalist and essayist, she interviews Christian college administrators who are attempting to make their institutions better by creating a more diverse college community. They have conversations about their efforts to have a diverse school and how some may thrive and look forward to diversity more than others. Nyack College in Nyack, New York was awarded and the Racial Harmony Award back along with many other colleges and universities.

The study of humanities intertwines with the sciences to create multiple perspectives that range from far beyond the walls of the classroom. In fact, these perspectives may be formed through UB Honor College's established global network, from New York to Singapore. The opportunity to study abroad, specifically in Singapore, would enrich my education as the campus strives to provide a research university through the crossing of cultures and its Asian-focused global economy. The cultural diversity allows for an individual to become enlightened. As an Egyptian who speaks Arabic, I would be able to understand different perceptions through interactions with others and through strong interconnected global academics.
In the spectrum of diversity, Rutgers is well above the national average in the categories of student ethnicity, gender, and culture; I have also heard from many current students and alumni that it is a breeding ground of new ideas and viewpoints. We as a society are manipulated by the idea that a college education will fix all of our problems and allow us to pursue a successful life. In the essay “College In America” by Caroline Bird mentions that a college education is not the best choice for all high school graduates because it leads to the assumption that a college education is the only possible way to establish one’s identity in society. Although college is the staple after graduating high school not all sustain the qualities it takes to succeed in the intellectual work given and some career fields do not have a connecting relationship to a college education reminding us that even though these claims are based in the 1970s it is still relevant in today’s society.
Next semester, I will take Advanced Economics: Globalization - an honors course with a focus on international relations and policy-making. However, my most rewarding course is one I am currently taking: AP U.S. Government & Politics. It taught me that laws must be principles that can adapt to new paradigms rather than an unyielding set of regulations. The University of Chicago offers a plethora of advantages to its students. Given its advantageous location, UChicago acts as a cultural, economic, and social hub in the city of Chicago. The city exposes its students to a melting pot of cultures through its impressively diverse student body, which allows for the facilitation and diffusion of differing ideas and thoughts. Having grown up in rural Indiana, this assimilation into a completely new sociocultural sphere would foster personal and academic growth and a broadening of my own perspectives. UChicago embodies American ideals of civic virtue, charity, and community involvement through its expansive civic engagement initiative.

Museum of the City of New York is located in the East Harlem area of Manhattan at the top of the Museum Mile. This museum has multiple exhibits that describe the history and arts of New York. From my own experience, I learned a vast amount of information on the background of New York that made me notice how lucky I am to study in New York today. Throughout this famous museum, it is evident that New York is the capital of the world because of its strong economy, modernization, and diversity of people.
During the summer of 2015, I drove to Lipscomb University’s campus with my mandatory khaki shorts and a positive attitude. I knew it was an honor that I was given the chance to attend Volunteer Girls State, but I had no idea to what extent. I grab my bags, walk to registration, and instantaneously get fixed inside a cloud of smiles, greetings, and positivity. It was almost overwhelming just how cheerful the atmosphere was, but it was tremendously refreshing. I told my mom goodbye and glanced over my busy itinerary with my roommate just before heading to the first of many Davis City meetings.
New York is many cities in one. Most people think that New York has been explored in every corner and up to its smallest points but did you know that the big apple is filled with hidden gems and treasures that are yet to be explored. So let’s take a tour around New York and look beyond hustle and bustle of the flashing skyline and skyscrapers and you will see New York’s beautiful spots that are hidden from most travelers.
