In this essay, I will be exploring one of the key aims in the national curriculum and discussing if this aim is relevant or not in the curriculum for physical education at this present time. The national curriculum aims to ensure pupils are physically active for sustained periods of time due to the health and well-being of the pupils. When coming to the end of each key stage, pupils are educated to know, understand and apply the different skills, matters and processes specified in the programme of study which is relevant.

In this essay, I have proven that physical activity is very important and that by staying active for periods of time would benefit you a lot throughout that pupil’s life time. By knowing key skills and how to make physical activity fun and enjoyable it would not be a problem for the pupil to maintain this throughout their lifestyle. When looking at the disadvantages for staying physically active I personally don’t think that this is a bigger enough issue to be looked at further. Staying physically active for a sustained period is something that all pupils should take part in and would be able to do for a period. This aim on the national curriculum is very important for all schools and educational systems to maintain because pupils enjoy physical activity a lot more than other people use to and this is due to the fact how it has changed and how they can take it further and not just in the lesson.
