Born and raised in Lincolnshire, England he grew up with his mom, Hannah Ayscough Newton on a small farm that was once his fathers who died before Isaac was born. Years later Isaac finished school at Kings School in Grantham even though he was almost pulled out because his mom wanted him to be a farmer. He was introduced to the fascinating world of chemistry. His uncle, who was a graduate at the University of Cambridge Trinity College, encouraged Isaac’s mother to allow him to attend the university. In 1665, the Great plague was terrorizing Europe and he soon traveled to Cambridge causing it to shut down for a while. When Newton returned home, he continued his studies so he wouldn’t fall behind when the plague calmed down at the university. During his time away from school, he developed the theory of light, showing that light is made up of many colors. His theory allowed him to design the first telescope, called the Newtonian that used a curved mirror instead of lenses. The plague calmed down at his school in 1667, allowing Newton to return.
