During the 13th to the 17th century, it was the start of new inventions, paintings, and other artwork. This time period is known as the renaissance; which took place in Italy. Italian cities, like Genoa and Venice, became very wealthy. This was mainly caused by their trading with other cities. In Italy, there were some cities that were ruled by feudal lords. This helped the growth of economies, political structure, and culture in their city.
