Leonardo Da Vinci was very popular in some of the 1400s and in some of the 1500s also, and he's still very popular today. Leonardo was a great famous artist, writer, mathmetician, inventor, engineer, etc. His work impacted many peoples lives. Here is how he spent his early life. Leonardo Da Vinci was born April 15, 1452. Leonardo was born in Vinci, Italy. Very little his known about Leonardo's early life. His full name is Leonardo Di Ser Piero Da Vinci. From the time Leonardo was born until the time he was five years old, he lived in the hamlet of Anchiano. Leonardo's dad took custody of Leonardo because Leonardo's mother was just a peasant woman named Caterina who married someone else and moved to a neighboring town. Caterina and Messer were never married. Caterina may have been a slave from the Middle East. In total, Leonardo had seventeen half siblings. While living with his dad, Leonardo also lived with his uncle, and his grandparents, in his fathers house. Vinci's dad later married a sixteen-year-old girl named Albiera.
