Steve Jobs and Pixar As a co-founder of Apple, Jobs lost his position due to power struggle in 1985. Shortly after, Jobs wanted to prove why he was such a successful young man that he started another computer company called NeXT. A year later he purchased a computer graphics division from George Lucas of Lucasfilms that later became known as Pixar Animation Studios. In Brent Schlender’s article, “The Lost Steve Jobs Tapes,” he states, “He paid $5 million for the group's assets and provided another $5 million in working capital for the company,” (Schlender).
