Barnardo’s had a group over 1160 employees and over 8500 volunteers who staff and look after Barnardo 's shops. Barnardo’s also has a support team who have to take care of the Fiancé, Gift Aid, Marketing, Recycling, and last but not least Volunteer Recruitment. In Barnardo’s bigger shops, they would have to employ both a a Deputy Branch Retail Manager and a Branch Retail Manager. Customer service is really important for a business like Barnardo’s because as a branch retail manager they are responsible for every little aspect of the running shop. So that would include processing cash and credit truncations, managing the budget, taking weekly stock accounts and gathering sale figures, banking cash, hygiene, safety and compliance with fire
The three most important tasks I regularly perform is taking care of SWPPP (Stormwater Pollution Prevent Plan), creating weekly work plans, and running the daily huddles with all the subcontracotrs. It’s my responsibily to make sure to do SWPPP inspections twice a week, and fix any problems that can lead to violations. As for weekly work plans, I have to collect every subcontractors’ tasks for the following meek, and put it into an excel sheet so we can go over it at the foreman’s meeting with the senior superintendent. Using the weekly work plans, I go through every single task and ask each subcontractor’s foreman if they completed it during the daily huddles. All three tasks are assigned by the senior superitendent.
Setting up district shooting matches, making sure the arena is available for horse events, educating farmers on wheat growth, traveling around the state for meetings and certifications. Does this sound like a job with numerous responsibilities? These are just a few of the jobs an extension agent may encounter on a daily basis. Extension agents assess the needs of the county they work for. Based on these needs a number of educational programs will be set up to assist the community.

Jim Mullens likes supervising the Customer Service Unit. This unit is responsible for updating customer accounts and files as well as for providing information to customers and other employees. Typically, the customer service representatives (CSRs) he supervises answer questions about the services offered, provide information about the customer’s account, and modify the files so that they are up-to-date and correct. This unit was formed only recently, to handle the increasing volume of direct customer calls more efficiently by using the newly installed on-line customer information system.

All levels of staff involved in merchandise need to understand areas such as Open To Buy and Closed To Buy, slow moving merchandise, Cost Per Square Meter of display space and the impact a slow or non-selling item has on turnover and profitability. There has to be constant communication between the business unit and the merchandise dept. to keep up with changing market trends and needs. The ordering of merchandise must be done with proper planning, keeping budgets, special promotions etc. The size of the business unit, the monthly turnover, nearest warehouse are all determining factors in the ordering of merchandise.
This will make the atmosphere more fun to be in for the employees but also the customers will benefit as well. Employees will be happy and in return will interact with the customers in a positive manner. We will also need to create reassurance in our services. Backing the sales that we have made and letting the customer know that we will be there to help them even after they brought the vehicle or came in for a service. I would make it a goal to make sure we do everything possible to make the sale easy as can be for the customer including taking care of the final paper work or making sure a warranty is provided for the vehicle or service provided.

Decision Making/Problem Solving- As assistant manager of a retail store, I had a situation where a decision needed to be made regarding the fact that the products in the storage room were not being put onto the shelves before the next truck full of products would arrive, due to the lack of organization in the storage room. My task was to evaluate the problem & find a way to effectively get the back storage room organized. The action I took was assigning designated areas for each group of products in the storage room. When unloading the truck, the result was that products were to be immediately placed in their specific group, instead of being stacked in random piles & employees were able to stock & locate the products much more quickly & the storage room was depleted before the next truck.
