Homeschooling is the education of school aged children at home rather than at a school, standard are set for what a child learns but parents choose the curriculum, schedule, and disciple. The rise of homeschooling comes from the dissatisfaction of the education system in the United States. It is found that 13- year old American students rank far below other 13- years old’s in other countries when it comes to math. Equally disturbing, one in three juniors in high school can correctly place the Civil War in the correct century. Another reason for the rise in homeschooling is the violence correlated in public schools, drugs, burglaries, bullying, and the threat of lives with the recent rise of gun and bomb violence. The idea of homeschooling is not a new idea but has become more increasingly popular to many parents willing to homeschool. In 2008, about 1.5 million children were homeschooled in the United States, as reputation for homeschooling grew the numbers of those homeschooled grew as well, as of 2010 over 2 million children have been homeschooled.
