English literature during the victorian era was a very important time in history. One of the most popular poets from that era is Robert Browning. Browning is a poet and a playwright from Camberwell, England. There were many aspects of his life that made him as well known as he is today. The way he was raised, his school life, his adult life, and his writing career, all come together to make his the person he is. He lived a life like no other English writer and that is what makes him so intriguing and interesting. Robert Browning’s childhood shaped him into the person we know today. Robert Browning is a poet and playwright from Camberwell, England.Suburb of London. He was the son of Robert Browning Sr., who was a bank clerk at the Bank of England, and Sarah Anna Wiedemann, who was a pianist. Browning’s father was also an artist, scholar and a collector of books and pictures. He had thousands of volumes that contained words in Latin, Greek, Hebrew, Spanish, French, and Italian. A lot of the knowledge that Browning had, was from his well-read father growing up. As Browning was growing up, he played piano because of the musical talent his mother had. From ages 14-16, he got schooled at home by a tutor after 1 or 2 private schools. His training included riding, fetching, boxing, singing, and dancing, along with the basics. At age 14, he had learned Latin, Geek, French, and Italian fluently. At 16, he studied Greek at University of College London, but left after half a year wanting to study and read on his own time at his his own pace. His parents evangelical faith stopped him from studying at Oxford or Cambridge
