In Verona, there were two houses divided by hatred. Yet in both houses, there were two star-crossed lovers, Romeo and Juliet. It started off as love at first sight, a Capulet and a Montague. A girl on her balcony and a boy watching from afar. The feud between the two houses caused a barrier between the two families of the star-crossed lovers, and they did everything they could just to be together. Although their love for each other was filled with such passion, they face overwhelming obstacles that ultimately led to their untimely suicides. Shakespeare’s sonnet, Romeo and Juliet, portrays a tragedy in love, fate, and rage. Romeo is the son of Lord Montague, and Tybalt is Juliet’s fierce cousin. Tybalt is very passionate about his hatred towards the Montagues and argumentative, whilst Romeo is a sensitive and intelligent man and is also heroic. In the streets of Verona, Tybalt is talking to Benvolio after a fight broke out between the servants of the two families. Benvolio explains how he wants to keep the peace, yet Tybalt proclaims that “What, drawn, and talk of peace! / I hate the word / As I hate hell, all Montagues, and thee” (I.i.63-65). Tybalt’s hatred toward the Montagues causes him to stir up a fight with Benvolio which articulates how strong the feud is between the two families. Consequently, if more violent outbreaks happen, the houses would be further divided; there would be more odds stacked between Romeo and Juliet. To further support, Romeo expresses anger when Mercutio is slain by Tybalt. Benvolio and Mercutio are loitering around the streets of Verona when Tybalt appears looking for Romeo. Mercutio is deliberately provocative and tries to start a fight with Tybalt. Romeo comes in and Tybalt insults him by calling him a villain, but Romeo shows no response since he is now related to him. Mercutio on the other hand, is aggravated at the fact that Romeo is being placid and isn’t willing to fight
