Romeo And Juliet Free Will Essay

The story of star-crossed lovers is either free will or fate. The story takes place inside Fair Verona, where the two houses Capulet and Montague have an everlasting hate for each other. The story includes romance, comedy, and death. The path the story takes is one of tragedy. The story Romeo and Juliet is a prime example of a Shakespearean tragedy. The conflict between the Montagues and Capulets starts a path of violence and ultimately ends with death. In the Prologue of the play, the chorus lets the audience know that the “ancient grudge” has surfaced again (Prologue 3). This quote shows that there has been a long-lasting feud between the two houses. This shows that though the feud has resurfaced, it has always been a thing, showing that Verona has had to deal with it for a long time.

Turn thee, Benvolio; look upon thy death”(page 13 Acts 1). The one who says this is Tybal, a part of the Capulet household, and he is telling Benvolio, a part of the Montague household, to look at the death that he will bring. This also shows that the households hate each other because Tybalt went to fight Benvolio just because he is a part of the other household. All of this information shows that the households hate each other even to the point where they will kill each other, which will eventually lead to the death of Romeo and Juliet. The deaths of Mercutio, Tybalt, Paris, Romeo, and Juliet all display how Romeo and Juliet is a Shakespearean tragedy. “I am hurting. A plague o’ both houses! I am speed.”( Act 3 Scene 1). This is when Mercutio died which enraged Romeo into killing Tybalt which is a demonstration of a tragedy within the play. When Mercutio dies he says “A plague o’ both
