Love, a state of mind that can alter a person's thoughts and actions. In the play, Romeo and Juliet, Shakespeare shows that the power of love can conquer everything. Love can cause a person to perform actions that they normally wouldn’t have. The two of them try to overcome all odds in the play Romeo and Juliet written by William Shakespeare. He explores love and the grasp it has on the two of them and the crazy actions it causes them to do.

The two of them risk everything for love. From the moment that they figure out that their families are sworn enemies they decide they will do anything to be with each other. After meeting at a party they devise a plan to have the friar marry them. “Come, come with me, and we will make short work. / For, by your leaves, you shall not stay alone / till the Holy Church incorporate two in one” (Romeo and Juliet 2.6.35-37). It caused Romeo and Juliet to do things that they wouldn’t have done if they weren’t under love’s control. Romeo climbs over her garden walls to talk to her even though if he were to get caught he would have been put to death. Romeo and Juliet get married the day after meeting even though they have to hide it from their parents and almost everyone they know. Romeo sneaks into her room to have one last night with her even though he could have been caught and killed, especially since he was exiled. It causes the two of them to make the final sacrifice for each other, they both take their lives. They take them because they couldn’t bear the thought of living without the other. Romeo and Juliet is a life lesson to everybody, young and old, of the power of love and the grasp it can have on
