In William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet, two young people from opposing houses find themselves falling in love with each other. However, since their feuding families cause so much drama, and of course would have never approved of the couple, they kept their love a secret and got married. They were happy being a couple in secret, however when Romeo gets banished from Verona, Juliet and Friar Lawrence were forced to make a plan that would allow Juliet to safely leave Verona along with Romeo. They decided to have Juliet take a potion which would make her appear dead for a little while, and once she was lying in the tomb, Romeo would come get her, and they would leave Verona. This went badly though, because Romeo never received the letter telling the plan. He still went to Verona, but he killed himself by her tomb. Shortly after, Juliet sees her dead husband and gets very sad, so she kills herself for the same reason as Romeo. “O, speak again, bright angel, for thou art as glorious to this night, being o’er my head, as is a winged messenger of heaven” (2.2.29-31) illustrates Shakespeare’s view that love is worth fighting for, which we can tell because he is wooing her at her house (the Capulet house), which puts himself in danger, but he doesn’t care because he puts seeing her as the most important thing, and everyone else can wait. This also explains how powerful love is, showing that Romeo views Juliet like an angel and heavenly. These events show that Romeo is more concerned with seeing Juliet than getting in trouble with authorities for being at an enemy’s house. This shows how the theme is that love is so important and worth fighting for, because Romeo would go to dangerous places just to see his
