Teenagers constantly strive for independence, but is it really the best thing for them to make major decisions on their own? Romeo and Juliet is a great example of this instance where in the past teenagers often got married and made lifelong decisions on their own. But as you know this story did not end well and over a most likely fake love they both kill themselves without a second thought towards their future. This is truly just one instance in which teenagers have ruined their lives with these important decisions, and looking at newly found research it's not hard to see why. She is from a rival family yet they were able to manipulate each other as crushes and prove the little self control found in teenagers that allows them to become easily manipulated. Romeo and Juliet prove that throughout time teenagers have been easily manipulated, but they continue to prove this as the poem goes on to eventually commit a double suicide over each other's bodies. Before everything goes wrong though, Romeo is in the street with his friend Mercutio when Tybalt from Juliet's family challenges Romeo to a duel for crashing his family's party. Romeo does not accept this duel since he thinks of how he just got married, but Mercutio decides against Romeo’s will to fight Tybalt.
