Gay Love: Same Love
Gay. A simple three letter word, yet it holds many contrasting connotations. It previously was used only as a term for describing homosexuals, but when did it become a term of negation? “Those shoes are gay.” “Your outfit is gay.” Gay transforming into a word with unfavorable connotation has desensitized the world to how the term impacts the feelings, self-confidence, and strength to love others for the homosexual people in the United States of America.
To begin with, the uttermost recurring reason for the non-acceptance of same-sex love is religion, specifically Christianity. Numerous people of Christian Faith are under the impression that being homosexual is against what the Bible says, is a sin, and is not how God created them. I once had a conversation with my grandmother; she is a Christian. She stated that “Gay people are only gay for the attention, they do not actually love one of the same gender as them.” Would someone truly want to be harassed, a minority, and even murdered for attention? My grandma’s response was, “Yeah, that’s why the gay pride parade happens. It is people that are lonely and don’t know how to get attention any other way.”
