In the article “Voting Turnout Statistics” by Seth Harden, it states how in America only 218,959,000 are eligible to vote, from this only 146,311,000 are registered and out of this only 126,144,000 actually voted in the 2012 presidential election. This shows how many Americans do not register to vote and even though they are registered, some do not vote. This could be the cause of a plethora of reasons, but the most likely causes are that people do not know how to register or they do not think that their vote matters. One emotion that this advertisement uses is humor. Throughout the video, the celebrities make various jokes in order to make the video more interesting and give the viewer a more positive reaction. Since the voting and elections are serious topics, some people may not be interested in watching videos about it. In order to grab and hold the attention of more than a select group of people, the ad uses comedy since most people enjoy watching things that make them laugh. Laughter also evokes positive emotions, so including this in an advertisement could leave viewers with a positive feeling toward the topic, therefore making their ad successful. In addition to using light hearted humor, the video also induces more serious emotions as it goes over the weight that this election holds. The actors and actresses describe Donald Trump by calling him, “... a racist, abusive, coward who can permanently damage the fabric of our society” (Save The Day . Vote, “IMPORTANT - Save The Day”). This kind of description is powerful and will leave a lasting effect on the viewer because it is so unrelenting. They also describe how he is unfit to be president by saying that being a businessman does not make one qualified for the role of president.
