Senior year is not a walk in the park. There is no time for laziness and no one seems to tell you that. In your senior year you have to finish up graduation required classes, apply to colleges and for scholarships, do your senior project, and in my case manage work, and extra classes. So the easy last year misconception needs to be abolished. If you fall to a case of senioritis you need to wake up. The saddest thing I hear everyday is that my grades don’t matter anymore I already applied to college. Wrong! Most students don’t understand many colleges check your first semester grades to make sure you are not slacking. Senioritis needs to be cured with facts; senior year is a crucial year and mean a lot. Everyday I hear a ton of misinformation about college, from applying to just getting in and it’s painful. There is so much unknown by some students that they are hurting themselves and most don’t have help at home. Common Application is the main way to apply to colleges around the country but many kids don’t know what that is, how to fill it out, and about deadlines. During this time it will make students focus and be on top of the deadlines and give them an opportunity to ask questions. What if you are not looking to go to college? THis time can be used to take ASVAB test or build a resume. This reworld time will help end laziness and still at the same time require responsibility on the student's part. This time will not have a grade or if a student doesn’t want to use this time for college apps and such, then don’t make them. Let the grade be whether or not they get everything in on time, in real life you either do it or you don’t, it’s a zero or 100, that’s it.
