What are your short and long term professional goals? While I am in the master program my short-term goals are to apply to certificate in nursing education (CNE), The certificate in nursing education is designed for individuals who seek to enhance their teaching skills and techniques in relation to the field of nursing since I am working as a clinical teaching assistant in nursing college this will be helpful. An essential part of the program is learning to recognize optimal educational outcomes and, once identified, being able to define and implement the strategies necessary to achieving them. Why did you select UIC? Receiving a PhD degree will boost my self-confidence, knowing that I not only completed a very important task such as patient care, but also took the responsibility of creating a foundation and evidence for each work I do as a PhD candidate. I believe in the importance of earning a PhD degree, because advancing my educational standards will allow me to acquire both evidence-base skills and this will enable me to take leadership roles mainly to improve health outcomes in pediatric and neonatal nursing. The completion of the doctorate will help me to convert scientific discoveries from my research into practice. In this way, I can shape the nursing profession by advocating for evidence-based approaches that focus on leadership and quality delivery of patient care within health care systems. Furthermore, the ever-changing and complex issues in the pediatric and neonatal nursing call for advanced practice nurses with a scientific content and research methodology. This course examines the contributions of advanced nursing practice roles to health outcomes throughout the lifespan for diverse individuals, families, communities, and populations. The contexts of local, regional, and global dynamics (e.g., social, political, ethical and economic perspectives) are explored as they affect health outcomes and health disparities/inequities. Students will apply a broad array of models, theories and methods to analyze health and disease in individuals, families, communities, and populations. NURS 529: scientific and analytic approaches for advanced practice. This course examines the theoretical and scientific foundations of advanced nursing practice, emphasizing the use of multiple sources of evidence and knowledge for decision-making. Students will be introduced to a range of data sources, and statistical and analytic techniques to support evaluation from individual, community, population, and system perspectives.
