College athletes should not get paid because these athletes could get caught up in too many issues, like being more important than any other player. Lonzo Ball brought this topic back into the light earlier this year, when he revealed to many news sources that he wasn’t paid as a high ranking college athlete at UCLA. Paying these athletes would cause more problems than this world needs. For example, like many professional athletes, these student athletes could gain the idea of only playing for the money once they get used to the lifestyle. It would effect the game/ sport and nature of it as whole if these student athletes were to be paid.

Some athletes won’t feel the need to have passion for the game when they’ve already worked up to what they’ve aimed for; making money by being the best. A “pro” mindset would sooner or later take over. That would be athletes who don’t try because they’ve already reached the best that they can be. Not many of them go “pro” anyways. To add, games would almost seem like a job more than an extracurricular activity because they already do so much.
