College athletes get paid by having their fees waived and having their school paid for.
Thats correct, all those stupid fees that are piled on by the university's, college athletes get them waived, well because they are in fact, an athlete. These scholarships “cover tuition and fees, room, board and course-related books”. (NCAA.org) And the rest, well FAFSA will most likely pick up the rest, with either a loan or grant. These athletes have no worries nor big responsibilities. For them, its study-play ball. Nothing less and nothing more is expected. Not saying that a little bit of “spending money” wouldn’t be nice to have while at school.

There is not one reason why young adults, starting at the age of 18, should be paid for going to practice and playing on a field, court, and course. Some people and athletes need to get this through their heads. They play a certain sport all their life because they love it. So, why all of sudden do they feel as if they need to get paid for playing a sport they have loved deeply, in their lifetime? Being able to understand why they shouldn't get paid is beyond important. Don’t get me wrong, getting paid would be a total bonus with all the hard work and hours these athletes have put in over time. None of it goes unnoticed, coaches see the dedication some of their players have and that is all the payment they need, is for someone to be proud of them. Just because they don't get paid the “big bucks” like the pros do, they get paid in getting recognition, in scholarships, getting a higher education, being able to play four more years and having someone be proud of
