Imagine how many people watch collegiate sports every day. Now also imagine the kind of ratings they receive every week, not to mention the mass revenue that each school and conference brings in. With that being said I believe it is only fair that collegiate athletes get a larger piece of the pie.

Most College athletes are put on to scholarships, in order to attend their school of choice. Now unfortunately not all of these athletes get this privilege, in fact most of these student athletes have to pay out of pocket. Now understandably so, universities shouldn’t just give scholarships away but there’s a lot of money that can be used towards funding their educations. The reason why this is happening is that there’s no true incentive of them staying. Although to earn a degree is a grand accomplishment, most of these athletes wouldn’t want to risk career ending injuries (that could lose them they’re scholarships, spots on the team) they pursue professional careers. So that, even if they don’t receive a lot of playing time they’re still receiving a pretty big check; it would definitely be worth a lot more than their scholarship. A five star collegiate athlete could break monumental records, win against all odds, but he isn’t allowed to receive any endorsements. Whereas the average professional athlete could receive as many endorsements as he can get. It only seems logical in order to keep high talent retained in the collegiate system instead of pursuing professional careers, colleges must seek better ways of aiding students. Scholarships are only supposed to cover tuition, classes, housing, and books. It’s not too often that these athletes are able to have much left over. Furthermore most of the student athletes come from poor homes. There isn’t a lot of money that they can use to feed their sons and daughters all the
