According to the DMV website the driving age depends on your situation and steps you have taken to obtain your driver’s license. The youngest you can be and drive is at the age of 14 but, you must prove a hardship that requires the child to drive. Which can include an illness in the family, school, work, and possibly a family business. Any teen an obtain a permit at the age of 15 ½ with restrictions and requirements to take a driving test. After having a permit for 6 months the teen can attempt a driving test if all requirements are complete. The requirements are to complete a driver education course, 50 hours of practice with someone 25 years or older, which 10 of those hours needs to be at night, and have insurance on the vehicle. If the teen doesn’t pass the test they must wait two weeks before they can try again and they only get three chances before having to start the process over again. Once the teen reaches the age of 17 ½ they are no longer required to complete the driver’s education course (DMV).
