Evolution is a theory, an idea intended to explain something with lots of evidence. According to Merriam-Webster, Evolution is the process by which new species or populations of living things develop from preexisting forms through successive generations (Evolution, 2017). In other words, species have changed or developed over time from one simple form to something more complex. The change its self allows the organism to be more adaptable to its surroundings and will help it survive in its environment which can then create more offspring. An example of this would-be plants and animals. Evolution explains why plants and animals are so good at living in their environments because overtime they have adapted to their surroundings.

Science is based on evidence that is repeated observation and experiments to support a theory, which has been done with Darwin’s theory. Creationism is a theory of design and has not offered any testable hypotheses, it is a belief, not science. Another reason evolution should old be taught in school because it helps develop treatments against antibiotic resistant bacteria, emerging viruses, and other deadly microbes. Evolution helps the students understand how the microbes develop and change. When students can understand the science essentials they can use critical thinking skills and create their own theories. This will help them make well-versed decisions which has become vital for innovation and competitiveness in our 21st century workplace.
