Is it time to get rid of the American tradition of school sports? In the article, “Yes, It’s Time to Scale Back” the author Amanda Ripley expresses how sports are harmful to the students and school funds. However, in the article, “No Sports Are More Important than Ever” by Tim O’ Shei discusses how school sports benefit students. The article, “10 Reasons Why High School Sports Benefit Students” by Grace Chen also backs up why school sports are important. School sports are a reason for failing grades; on the other hand, there are many positive benefits to having them in schools.
Having sports integrated into high schools is important since it allows students to have the ability to gain valuable character traits needed for society with the addition of allowing lower income students to be able to enjoy the sport. Sports, especially team sports, give students the ability to learn valuable traits like “discipline, teamwork, a drive for success, the desire to be held accountable and a willingness to have their performance measured” (Sato). These skills mentioned in the article “The Case for High School Sports” by Kai Sato are vital to be functioning members of society. If students were to only focus on academics their whole life, it will only be beneficial till they exit college, since in someone's everyday life they will not be calculating the area of a circle but they will be communicating with
When everybody argues enough and then schools decides to keep sports their should be a fee of that parents have to pay for buses, and players have to pay for half of their uniform, and then the school pays for the other half. Don’t you think? The problem is that schools think that keeping sports is a financial burden and that sports bring down students academics. Schools should not get rid of sports because school sports help improve academics, sports can bring a community together, and sports can reveal character. Schools should not get rid of sports because sport programs help test and academics.

High School Sports Should be Funded Every year 300,000 students are participating in sports (Gould 1). The School District has been funding the athletics program, which has been benefiting many of the students’ lives for several years. The discontinuation of high school sports will cause many students to loose the health, social and educational benefits provided by participating in athletics. The School District should continue to fund sports because they benefit students.
The stress can get so intense, it feels paralyzing. Should schools be paying for sports or should kids join sports teams at other places? Sports can be a good experience for some students and can build confidence, friendships, and give kids a healthy activity to do outside of school, but could schools save more money if they did not have sports and use the money to build a better academic environment? High school sports
I feel like they should continue the fund for school sports. Funding the school sports help the kids that want to do sports, it also helps other people get active. If they were to stop funding, then the schools won't be able to do the sports. If the schools don't have sports then a lot of people wouldn't be so active and that's not what the schools would want. It also wouldn't be so good for the schools.
What would schools be like without sports? Should American schools get rid of their sports programs? Many students believe that schools should keep the athletic programs. Should High School sports be taken away? I’m going to be talking about whether they should take away sports in high schools. Some high schools think that sports are interfering with students learning and with their classes. Some other high schools are ok with having sports in school because it could help them gain lifetime benefits. I think they shouldn’t take away sports in high schools because it encourages the players to do well in class.
For a normal high school student their routine is always the same. Wake up, go to school, come home, watch TV or relax, and the common phrase of “oh I’ll do my homework later.” While a student athlete has to go to school and the to their sport of choice then they have to do their homework, so their grades don't slip and preventing them from participating in their sport of choice. While many may argue that our high school shouldn't be funded from lack of proper education I believe that our high should fund sports because, sports teach skills needed in the job world and can improves grades. You see in sports movies and TV shows that the athletes have a strong sense of leadership, well that isn't just a silver screen concept.
The author Thelma Gomez, says “Playing sports is an important elemen5t in the lives of many American children.” And she is correct. Sports can make kids the next David Wright, the next LeBron James, the next Eli Manning, or the next Lionel Messi. The best part of sports is that you're improving your physical health, psychological health, social skills, and academic benefits. Physical and phychological health can benefit a child in many ways.
Schools universal have sports, but they cost a great deal of money. Schools don't realize how much money they spend on sports when they “travel for games they have to pay for hotels, busses, substitute teachers, meals,” also sports are a big distraction from the actual school work. (Ripley 3) Although sports are very helpful and could get students into great places, maybe sports aren't meant for all school the costs of sports are too much and districts could be saving thousands of dollars every year.
