Tim O’ Shei says that sports could benefit students with grades, homework, and classwork. According to the text, “No Sports Are More Important than Ever”, “When you
Having sports integrated into high schools is important since it allows students to have the ability to gain valuable character traits needed for society with the addition of allowing lower income students to be able to enjoy the sport. Sports, especially team sports, give students the ability to learn valuable traits like “discipline, teamwork, a drive for success, the desire to be held accountable and a willingness to have their performance measured” (Sato). These skills mentioned in the article “The Case for High School Sports” by Kai Sato are vital to be functioning members of society. If students were to only focus on academics their whole life, it will only be beneficial till they exit college, since in someone's everyday life they will not be calculating the area of a circle but they will be communicating with
Schools should not get rid of sports because it improves focus and academics, and teaches you to work with others as a team. Schools shouldn’t get rid of sports, because it improves students focus and academics. This is important because it proves that sports can improve students for school subjects. In the article ”Should schools get rid of sports”, according to a 2013 report from the Institute of Medicine, physically active kids have more focus, are better problem solvers, and score higher on tests. This supports my claim because it helps students improve in many subjects, like it is better to stay focused while doing your homework and the work you do in school.
High School Sports Should be Funded Every year 300,000 students are participating in sports (Gould 1). The School District has been funding the athletics program, which has been benefiting many of the students’ lives for several years. The discontinuation of high school sports will cause many students to loose the health, social and educational benefits provided by participating in athletics. The School District should continue to fund sports because they benefit students.
First, according to the article, “Are High School Sports Good For Kids?” by Daniel Gould, a study has shown that Michigan students who participate in sports are shown to have increased educational goals and aspirations. This fact is important because it shows that extracurricular sports are doing what they are supposed to do; benefit the education of students, not detract from it.
The stress can get so intense, it feels paralyzing. That’s why it is important than ever for schools to invest in their athletic programs,” states the sports article “Should Schools get rid of Sports.” Schools should keep their sports programs because they help improve academics, help improve mental and emotional health, and improves social skills like being on a team. Schools should not get rid of their sports programs because they help with student’s academics.
Some kids do not have the best family life, so being able to easily access something to get them out of their house can make a huge impact. Sports can also provide the opportunity for students to get athletic scholarships and help them evolve from a high school student athlete to a college student athlete. High schools having sports can open opportunities for things like easy fundraising, earning money from the game, and also allow a lot more people to be involved and supporting the school. On the other hand, schools could also be saving the money that they would use towards things like sports equipment, field and court maintenance, uniforms, coaches, busing, and also all the extra little things that have to be paid for. The money that would be saved could go towards things to better the classrooms and the learning environment for the students.
For many years, people have debated whether or not school sports are good for children. Many people have stated, that after their students have been removed from sports, they have had an increase of some kind in their grades. Therefore, schools should eliminate sporting activities to save money, give the United States a better title, and help students boost their grades in class. Because of how the country is with money, it is a very substantial thing for schools, so taking sports out of their system will help provide their students with more academically pleasing activities.
Do you think that kids should be able to play sports? Think what what would you do if you didn’t do sports, would you be happy and do other things. Or be mad and argue why you should keep sports in schools. Kids are better playing sports because they are doing better things than just staying inside and being cupped up in a house all day because they would rather be on their electronics. Kids doing sports is time to do things with other people like socialize and have fun.
Sport in high school shouldn’t be taken away because it allow new students to make friends a lot easier. If we didn’t have sports in schools then there wouldn’t be professional sports anymore because the kids won’t be able to practice and not every kid has money to buy a ball or net and basketball hoop. It helps the student’s grades in classes because if they have low grades in one class they can’t play the sport so they try their hardest to raise the grade so they can play the sport. This is why I think they shouldn’t take away sports in high schools.
Sports should continue to be funded in school. They have been proven to have many benefits, with few negatives. First of all, one reason the school should fund sports is that sports can have educational benefits, which are helpful for kids. There is evidence that kids that are in sports generally do better in school than those who aren't in sports. For example, the article "Are High School Sports Good
Like I said before after Premont School District took out sports, “there were no Friday night games to look forward to, no cheerleaders making posters in the hallway” (11). “Players spend long hours practicing, and that commitment extends to the rest of the school-from late-night band practices and pep rallies to meeting with parents,” with all these distractions students wouldn’t be able to get schoolwork done (Ripley 11). This reveals that without sports students would stay focused, so they can get their work done and would not end up with missing assignments. Sports are a great distraction for students, that is why they need to be
Fact: “According to a 2013 report from the Institute of Medicine, physically active kids have more focus, are better problem solvers, and score higher on tests.” “A 2012 study by the Datalys Center found that young athletes have higher scores in math and English than those who don't participate in sports.” Argument 2: Sports gives a sense of equal opportunities to students. Fact: “Public schools are all about "equal opportunity.
Therefore, school should remove sports because they can cause a lack of sleep, make students grades drop, and removing them could prevent injuries. A great number of parents are concerned about their kids playing after school sports. Therefore, school should remove sports because they can cause a lack of sleep, make students grades drop, and removing them could prevent injuries.
Sports can enhance the cooperative and strategic strategies. The passage states that, “understanding the competitive process entails an appreciation of the social nature of competition, particularly with regard to the cooperative and strategic aspects of sports and an awareness of the nature of individual roles within a cooperating group.” The last reason, which it the academic benefits, proves that you shouldn’t take away the sports for school. The kids that play sports benefit in the classroom a lot more than regular students.
