Should marijuana be legalized? People are going to use marijuana whether it is legal or not; banning it only makes everything more problematic. Why fight to prohibit marijuana, when it could be beneficial for people? Jobs can be created, more money would come to the legalized states, police could focus on serious crimes, and the prison's population would decrease. Instead of police making over seven million marijuana arrests yearly, they could protect the community by finding murderers and rapists. I think if alcohol and tobacco is legalized so should marijuana because it is less harmful. Alcohol and tobacco causes millions of injuries and deaths per year. People with glaucoma will have their intraocular pressure reduced. Psychiatric patients show a great deal of improvements in symptoms and clinical outcomes. Researchers are trying to find out if schizophrenia and depression could also be treated with marijuana. People with cancer benefit because it reduce nausea. People with Aids and HIV benefit because it acts as a stimulus to their appetite. It also reduces symptoms for alzheimer's and crohn's disease, epilepsy, and multiple sclerosis. Patients love it because it acts as an alternative to narcotic painkillers. They find it more effective than ADA approved drugs because it is a therapeutic supplement. Unlike tobacco, marijuana can be smoked frequently and over a long period of years without damaging the lungs permanently. Marijuana was a success in the early B.C. It was used as an anesthetic during surgery in 4000 B.C. in China. In India, it reduced anxiety in 1000 B.C. For centuries, the United States used it for treatments.
