Should we Teach Romeo and Juliet in School?
It has been debated whether the book Romeo and Juliet should be taught in school. While several announce that the story is educational there is an opposing side where a considerable amount of people believe that Romeo and Juliet should not be taught in schools. I believe 9th grade students should not read Romeo and Juliet for diverse reasons. First of all, the story is monotonous and weak. Secondly, the tale is not teaching any student anything particular, there is no moral to the book. Lastly, a story about two lovers who die out of their passion for each other is absurd and does not leave a satisfactory influence on 9th grade students.
First of all, Romeo and Juliet is a book on two star crossed lovers that are not capable of being together as a result of both parents who contradict their love for one another. In the story, disagreement, love, marriage, and animosity all happens in the span of a week, hence the reason the book doesn’t appeal to most 9th graders as something necessary to read. The boredom of a story that repeats itself over and over again, in my opinion is mundane. Although the popularity and the obligation on having to read the book aids students to finish the story in class, Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet wouldn’t often be read alone by 9th graders.

Although high school read books are not counted on to have morals, there is at least something people can find appealing and unique, however, nothing can be taken out of Romeo and Juliet except for the old english language. The point is, out of all Shakespeare plays schools could choose from where dialect is exclusively used like this, we chose a depressing love
