As a student, going to school means gaining knowledge and learning about multiple advanced subjects. A school's curriculum ensures that students learn everything they need to know so that they are well prepared for the grade following. Furthermore, students’ are also required to take mandatory standardized state tests during the course of the school year. Research has shown that while teachers attempt to prepare students for these tests, the students’ understanding of the given material is compromised as a result of teachers rushing through the lesson in order to cover all of the material that the students will be tested on. Standardized tests should be eliminated from elementary schools, middle schools and high schools and should not be a mandatory part of a school's curriculum.
Often, teachers are not able to fully prepare students for what material will be on these tests. As a result, students become stressed and feel a lot of pressure when they come across material they don’t know. It comes down to the amount of time teachers are given to perform comprehensive lessons, and there is simply not enough time to get through all of the material before having to take these lengthy, time-consuming assessments. Students feel pressured to do well on these tests and they easily become stressed and overwhelmed when they come across something on the test
