How Social Media is a bad Influence on Middle School Students Phenomenon is caused by excessive amounts of time spent on social media. Social media has a negative influence on middle school students because it could cause loneliness,develop anxiety and/or depression, and can lead to cyberbullying. Again,social media has a negative influence on middle school students because it can cause loneliness. Children can stop talking face-to-face and have only been texting and/or calling. This is bad because instead of going to a parent for help instead they go to online friends. According to CNN, “Instead of studying or doing homework they are texting friends and posting pictures online”.
