Introduction Social media is quickly becoming America’s primary source of media. For an athletic department to reach every consumer, they must utilize social media for both logistical reasons, and as a mean of promoting their brand/programs. I analyzed every social media account that promoted Oakes’ Athletic Department. The primary information source of athletic department information was found on the school’s Twitter and Facebook account, which have the greatest number of followers. Additionally, there were six program Facebook accounts, and one program Twitter account that was analyzed in the creation of the report. None of the pages use the Oakes Public School logo as the profile picture. Rather, the profile pictures consist of pictures of our brick school, clipart saying Oakes, team pictures, and a picture of a volleyball. Types of Posts The majority of athletic department posts are related to scheduling and logistics, with volleyball as the exception. Identifying the purpose of each social media account, and creating a consistent template will allow us to better convey our messages. I recommend creating a manual, detailing the expectations for Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram posts. We would like to have the following goals: • Facebook will have everything we do. Facebook has the greatest number of users, and our current accounts have the most followers compared to Twitter. Posts should include: • Scheduling updates will be strictly informative, and will not have a graphic. • Pictures from events, utilize albums on the
