Located in New Britain, Connecticut, is a non-profit agency called the Human Resources Agency of New Britain ,Inc. (HRA). The HRA is a multi-service agency that provides a variety of programs and services for low-income children, youth, adults, and seniors. The HRA’s mission statement claims “The mission of the Human Resources Agency of New Britain, Inc. (HRA) is to improve the quality of life by helping people achieve economic and social potential” (“About HRA”, n.d.) The HRA follows their mission statement by providing …show more content…

These programs were created to give low-income children the opportunity to be cared for and educated while their parents work. Some of the services and programs established for the youth include Out-Of-School Youth Employment Services and Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) for Youth. These services are programed to provide opportunities for low-income youth to become employed and self-sufficient. The services offered to adults are Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA), FDIC Money Smart Workshops, Individual Development Accounts (IDA), South Central One-Stop Career Center, Operation Fuel, Energy Assistance, Community Service Case Managers, Polish Victim Advocacy, and the New Britain Food and Resource Center (NBFRC). These programs and services were put in place for low-income adults to receive aid in their finances, seek employment, and live more comfortably. The services and programs installed for the elderly are Housing Counseling Services for Seniors, Senior Transportation Services, and Senior Homecare Services.
