A good therapy theory that can be applied to help families with children is Solution Focused Therapy. This theory is a strength-based approach that emphasizes on the resources that people already possess and how these resources can be applied to a positive change process (Bond, Woods, Humphrey, Symes, & Green, 2013). Therapists move away from analysis of the client’s problems that has been disrupting the client’s life (Bond, Woods, Humphrey, Symes, & Green, 2013). The therapist focuses on the client’s strength and the ‘life without the problem’ rather than a detailed analysis of the problems dimensions (Bond, Woods, Humphrey, Symes, & Green, 2013).
