It is not needed to see if we learned what we needed to learn or to “track our learning”. We already take tests and do many things throughout the year that do that. For example District Common Assessments or DCAs. We take these tests throughout the year over stuff that we learned. They truly track our learning throughout the year.

We do not need to take test, we need to learn to grow up to be well-rounded adults, to be prepared for society and all of its forthcoming. We need to learn and understand what they are trying to educate us on so we will not be doomed to repeat the same mistakes that society has already passed through.
They even will take out daily announcements and pep-rallies to “prepare” the students for the tests they have that day (Ramey). With everything comes a Pro and Con side, but it is to find middle ground which is important. This argument of standardized testing, has the side of the nation trying to keep up with the standards of other country, because we are falling a bit behind in academics, compared to other countries. There is where a line where students aren’t getting the all-round experience and knowledge that they need to succeed.
In my opinion one of the biggest problems with this is that teachers start “teaching to the test”. In other words, teachers will only focus on what will be covered on the test and not focus on what they believe is important. This leads to the question, “what are they not learning?”. It is being questioned if students are actually learning valuable skills in school that will help them in the long run or are they are learning more of a” process” and learning just how to pass a class. Standardized test can be unreliable when it comes to measuring a student’s performance.
The problem with that is, students won’t know, how well they’re doing in their classes; and are they understanding the concepts that are being taught? Some concepts that are taught in school can be tricky, without being given grades, or standardized testing, students won’t have the skills for when post-secondary comes around.
